RiConnect Introduces a Clear READY FOR USE or NOT FOR USE Status for Every Asset

RiConnect Digital Asset Integrity gives every asset one clear status, READY FOR USE or NOT FOR USE, visible on the asset record before work begins.

Before a lift, a job or a shift starts, field teams need an answer to one question: can this asset be used now? In many organizations that answer still depends on memory and phone calls. Someone recalls the last inspection, someone else believes the certificate is current, and the office is asked to confirm. Uncertainty costs in both directions: equipment that should not be used may go to work, and equipment that is perfectly ready may wait while people chase confirmation.

The idea behind a clear status is similar to a pre-flight signal. The ground crew does not read the whole logbook before every departure, but the logbook stands behind the signal and can be checked. In the same way, a RiConnect status banner gives the field a quick answer, and the records behind it give that answer substance.

The status is the visible end of a chain of information:

  • Records: inspections, pre-use checks, maintenance, calibration, certificates and open issues are brought together on one asset.
  • Rules: those records are checked against the latest inspection, maintenance and certificate results, rather than read case by case.
  • Reasons: when an asset is NOT FOR USE, the open issues that explain why are shown with it.

The second answer deserves as much attention as the first. Suppose a pre-use check fails. The asset moves to NOT FOR USE as soon as the check is submitted, and the failed check is listed as an open issue. The next crew does not learn about it at the gate or second-hand; they see it on the asset before work begins. A clear NOT FOR USE prevents a bad day, and a clear READY FOR USE prevents a wasted one. Both come from the same records.

Different roles use the same view. Field crews read the status and record a pre-use check where the equipment stands. HSEQ teams and supervisors see the dates behind each status instead of chasing certificates. Managers and auditors open the same asset and the same record, with documents attached.

None of this requires replacing existing systems. ERP, CMMS and similar platforms continue to manage records, maintenance and workflows, while RiConnect gives the field the answer it needs at the point of use.

Ultimately, the benefit is confidence at the moment a decision is made. When status, evidence and responsibility sit on the same asset, teams can act on what they see instead of what they remember. Organizations who want to know the status of their assets before work begins can talk to RiConnect.
